A tenkeyless (TKL or 80%) board is a full-size keyboard without the number pad: every key in its usual place, with the mouse closer to your hand. It is the easiest layout to find keycaps for. These are kits, so plan for switches and keycaps on top of the price shown.

What to check before you buy

  • Check whether the PCB is hot-swap or solder; some TKL kits offer both as variants at different prices.
  • F12 and F13 layouts differ: an F13 board has an extra key in the function row that some keycap sets do not cover.
  • A TKL needs more stabilizers than a 65% (spacebar, both Shifts, Enter, Backspace); confirm they are included.
  • Measure your desk: a TKL is about 36 cm wide, roughly 5 cm wider than a 75%.
